Making Connections Term 2

This Term we are looking at how we can make connections with the people in our local community.

We have been busy learning about what our parents do for work, and how we work together as a community.

Stage 1:
Using the first part of our learning process (get it), we wrote down all of our parents occupations.

Stage 2:
Using the second element of our learning process (sort it) we organised what our parents do into jobs based in Upper Moutere, and jobs outside. Then we organised them into categories.

Stage 3:
Use it - from here we found out were people worked, and placed these on a map of the Moutere.

Stage 4:
We developed possible questions to ask when we visit different locations. Todd is then going to put together a script for us to use on our trip.

Stage 5:
While we are waiting for permission slips to be returned we have been putting together a local inquiry on a local business. We will put up photos of our posters when they are finished.

Also while we were doing this, Alfie and Amber put together the following video for assembly about what we have done so far.

STAGE 6:

TIme to head out on our Tour! We headed out on Wednesday and visited 5 different places (out of a possible 9). Each different stop had different activities for us, and because we had small groups spread out across the community, everyone was able to get up close and personal with each different stop.

It was such an amazing day out, and every child came back with heaps of information and ideas.

Now all we need to do is put together a video of our day, ready to share in assembly in week 10. Here is a quick slideshow of photos to show you some examples of what you might see in our video:

And finally after completing our movie of our trip we are now able to share this with you!

Take a look!

  2. Look forward to seeing the results of your research....and where it will lead. I wonder how many parents work in the Moutere?
