Motorbike Riding

I think that motorbike riding is the best sport for kids to do and I'm going to tell you why.

Firstly, motorbike riding is fun and exciting and it pushes you to the limit. You can pick your own motorbike. You get your own make and team.

Secondly, motorbike riding is a great outdoor sport because it is fumey and noisy.

Thirdly, at motorbike riding you can meet new people and at clubs you can get your own mechanic and team. You have to work hard because it is tiring.

So now you know why motorbike riding is the best sport for kids. That's because motorbike riding is fun, fumey and noisy, and you meet new people.

Ocean
I used to be an ocean
But people threw rubbish into me
I was a deep, huge ocean
But people threw rubbish into me
I didn't want to become a polluted ocean
But people threw rubbish into me
I became a huge, dirty ocean
Because people threw rubbish into me

Tree
I used to be a tree
But I got chopped down
I was a big tree
But I got chopped down
I didn't want to die
But I got chopped down
I became firewood
Because I got chopped down

Wellington
I see the trams moving along
I smell the sea air
I hear the wind yelling
I feel the air blowing me
I taste the raindrops
I think it is a cool place
by Baillie

Parapara Beach
I see the shiny sea in the distance
I smell the dead fish on the seashore
I hear the waves crashing on the shore
I feel the salty sand in my toes
I taste the sea water on my lips
I think of a dolphin about to jump out

Island Adventure

Krrrr! "We're going down boys!"

Three days later... I woke up on the puffed up sand hungry and dehydrated.  I saw a spooky cave in the distance and I stayed there for the night.

The next day I carefully climbed out of the spooky, creepy cave and set off on my adventure.  I heard a river and felt anxious about crossing it.  I filled my cartridge up.  Suddenly SLASH! I fell in and I floated all the way out to sea.

After awhile I got washed into shore.  I carefully stood up. Suddenly PLOP! A coconut came down from a tree.
"Nice! Some food!"
I looked up and saw a gigantic lollypop forest.

After awhile I heard a sound.  "Who's there?" I said in a shivery voice.

It replied, "hoohhhh!"

It was wild pigs! I ran for it! Down a hill I ran, straight into a tree and rolled over and over until I plonked my head on a tree.

Nek minute I was on the beach and I heard people talking. Shockingly I turned round the corner and I saw drunk, pesky pirates burying treasure.  As I ran for the treasure I got shot by a colt and died.

Be Specific Poems

Don't say you saw a shark
Say you saw a Thresher, a Tiger or a Reef.
Don't tell me it ate
That's what any shark can do.
Tell me it chomped it, devoured it or ripped off the skin
In the glittering coral reef

By Barney

Don't say you saw Lego
Say you saw Star Wars Lego, Lego Movie, Lego City or Ultra Agents.
Don't just tell me that you play with it
Tell me that you construct it
Tell me that you build a train city.
Don't just say playing with Lego is fun
Say it's awesome, say it's challenging, say it's creative!

By Cooper

Don't say you saw a dog
Say you saw a Huntaway, Golden Retriever, Border Terrier or German Shepherd.
Don't just tell me it ran
Tell me that it sprinted, bolted or darted.
Don't just tell me it was in the city
Tell me that it was almost getting run over,
getting lasered by red lights
or playing fetch in the middle of a tennis game!

By Ada

Don't say you saw a duck
Say you saw a Blue Duck, Indian Runner, Paddler or Mallard.
Don't just tell me that it flew
Tell me that it twirled, loop-a-looped
and dived down to the shimmery water.
Don't just tell me that the water was shiny
Tell me it was glimmering in the dark blue.

Week 6 Term 1

I heard wonderful waves crashing together like a Sumo Wrestler.
I saw the water swirling between the slippery rocks.
I felt my bare feet touch the gritty sand, my wet hands were being tickled by nippy crabs.
I smelt the salty sea and my scented sunscreen.
I wondered if I would find another fidgety crab running away for his dear life.

I'm sitting on the front of the boat getting ready to dive in. Yes! I have been waiting fo thsi moment all day. Here we go! Splosh! Brr there is freezing water all around me...Why? Oh yeah, I am in the water!

Wow what was that? I know, it was a stingray. Where did it go? Aha spotted it!

I better get back to the boat, I do not have much oxygen. Ahh what an adventure.

My top outdoor spot is Kina Beach.  Kina Beach is a five minute walk for my family.  There is lots of seaweed and there are more dogs than people.  There is blue sea that you can sink your feet into.  The sand is crunchy and golden.  I love Kina because I have lots of fun with my family when I am there.

By Sophie

My top outdoor sport is Cable Bay.  You can see a rocky beach with fierce waves, you can swim in the salty sea, hike on the giant hills and camp in the campground.  I love Cable Bay because it's really sunny there.

Rabbit Island is my favourite spot.  You can see driftwood floating around and little shells sitting on the sand waiting for someone to pick them up.  You can see little and big dead crabs just lying there nearly sinking into the ground.  What I do for fun is stand in the muddy sand so my feet sink.  I like building really big cool sand mansions.  Sometimes I build with friends like Sophie, Ada and Ariana. Fishing is another thing that I do.  I've caught a snapper and a blue cod.  I think it's a fun place because there are gigantic waves and bright gold sand.

By Danni

Waipu is a sunny place.  It's full of beaches.  There are waterfalls, farms and lots of animals.  On Uretiti Beach there's soggy driftwood and soft sand.  I love Uretiti Beach because you can see Sails Rock.
